Tuckahoe Board of Ed trustee resigns

At its board meeting tonight, the four remaining members of the Tuckahoe School Board accepted the resignation of their colleague James Oliverio, effective Aug. 26, 2011.

Oliverio had served for eight years on the board, and his term was set to end June 30, 2011. The seat will be up for election this coming May.

"He was very vocal, and he was great with the finances," said Board Vice President Anthony Buonocore, the only board member who served for Oliverio's entire tenure. Buonocore noted that, before he was on the board, Oliverio had a large role in moving the district's technology forward.

"We thank him for his years in service, and wish him well on his future endeavors," said board President Julio Urbina.

The board is encouraging interested members of the community to send in their resumes in order to be considered to fill the board vacancy. The board expects to make an appointment to serve out Oliverio's unexpired term at its Oct. 17 meeting.
