The Town of Eastchester is opening the Field House at Haindl Field off of Burnham Road and Rescigno Drive in the town's North End to residents of Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville beginning at 6 p.m. today for those seeking to escape the impact of Hurricane Irene.
As the storm progresses, residents can call the town's non-emergency storm number (914) 961-3138 to be transported to the shelter at Haindl Field. Town officials urge residents to stay off the roads and remain indoors as much as possible as the storm gains traction.
The Haindl Field shelter will maintain generator power in the event of a likely electrical outage and will have food, water and air conditioning at its premises.
