At tonight's meeting of the Eastchester Town Board, north end resident Joseph Dooley (R) was appointed and sworn in as the newest council member.
Dooley was appointed to fill the vacancy created when Michael Cahalin (R) stepped down from the board last month.
"I'm excited to get involved in things," said Dooley. "Being [just a] taxpayer you don't get to get involved in the behind the scenes of what goes on."
Dooley, who has worked for J.P. Morgan Chase since 1980 said he believed his financial knowledge would help him to be an asset to the town.
Dooley will serve out the remainder of Cahalin's term, which lasts until Dec. 31 of this year. However, he said that he also plans to seek his party's nomination for the seat in the November election.
