According to New Rochelle Democratic Commitee Chair Arnold Klugman, the Democrats have announced six candidates who will be running for the City Council in November. Mayor Noam Bramson, Jared Rice (District 3) and Barry Fertel (District 5) will all be seeking reelection. Former Councilman Roberto Lopez is looking to return to the City Council as a representative for District 1, the seat currently held by Rebublican Lou Trangucci. Ivar Hyden is set to run for council in District 4, a seat currently held by Republican Richard St. Paul though the current councilman has been moved to District 1 after the Democrats redistricting plan was accepted. Shari Rackman will run in District 6. Rackman is seeking to replace current councilwoman Marianne Sussman who will not be running for reelection. Klugman stated that there is no Democrat yet set to challenge Republican Al Tarantino in District 2.
